On Saturday, April 1st, the Franklin Food Bank held their third annual BeerFest. In true BeerFest fashion, it poured the day before but the sun eventually came out for BeerFest. In fact, some people even wore sunglasses in the greenhouse.

This year we broke records:  almost 250 guests and volunteers helped us raise almost $9,000!

So what do we do with that money? We can purchase 1,800 Spring holiday food boxes for our clients; put gas in our vans to pick up donations; and pay the electric bill to keep the lights on and the refrigerators running.

We could not have done any of this without your participation. We have amazing sponsors, donors, and we had some pretty good entertainment – right?

Speaking of music, we started off the day with the music of Kevin Hill followed by Debra Dynamite and Crash Gordon. The day concluded with Screamin Rebel Angels. If you didn’t feel the music, you need to get that checked. Sound and booking was courtesy of Iguana Music and Sound.

As we mentioned, Stop & Shop sponsored BeerFest but they also provided food. Other food donors include:  Bimbo Breads; Champion Provisions; Sysco US Foods; Revolution Foods; and Cafe Amici. The 2000 wings were courtesy of The Tilted Kilt who also donated two door prizes! What’s beer without popcorn and pretzels? Reading Cinemas in Manville donated the popcorn and Auntie Anne’s donated three pretzel gift basket door prizes. A special thank you to the Middlebush Fire Department who opened their kitchen so we could prepare the food.

We couldn’t have had BeerFest in a greenhouse if it weren’t for Suydam Farms. We love our farmers and encourage you to visit their farm store (in the greenhouse!).
