About Our Volunteer Program

Our mission to serve the food needs of our local community, neighbors helping neighbors, within an atmosphere of dignity and respect comes to life within our food assistance program, Client Choice or “The Market,” as we’ve come to affectionately call it. Please take a look at this short video tour of our Client Choice Program for a visual-audio introduction and to get a look at our client-focused space.

We are a small, volunteer-lead organization, with an equally small staff. We truly rely on volunteers to commit to at least one full 3-hour shift each week to help us fulfill our mission. When we have enough volunteers working vital positions within the Market (Sorter, Stocker, Cashier), we are able to sort the food that we source from donations, fully stock the shelves with produce, shelf-stable food, meat and dairy, and check out our clients in an expedient manner. Ultimately this means that our neighbors who visit us each day are able to take enough food home to feed their families.

Please note, Teen Volunteers: Our dedicated and diverse group of volunteers ranges from students to senior citizens. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old to volunteer at the Franklin Food Bank! Teen volunteers ages 14 – 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while volunteering. Community service hours are available for students!

Another thing, is our Dress Code: Volunteers will be provided with a t-shirt to wear at the food bank. In addition, please wear comfortable, safe footwear at all times. Sneakers or work boots work best. Clothing attire should be comfortable and appropriate for the season. Our warehouse is not temperature controlled – it’s hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

We are truly grateful to all of the volunteers who donate the gift of their time! THANK YOU!
